They will review procedures for identifying Multilingual Learners, expectations for servicing and delivering instruction through the use of the new curriculum, and coding & compliance. On June 20th, the link to the modules will be sent to those who have registered prior to June 20, 2022. Teachers will receive 8 PD credits for completing the self-paced modules. There will be an additional face-to-face session held during the week of Summer Academy on July 20th to be registered for separately.

School administrators and ESOL teachers with their Co-Teaching partners will begin the process to prepare for a year of co-teaching as structured by Honigsfeld and Dove's book, Co-Teaching for English Learners. Participants will learn specific strategies and models to set up a learning environment to meet the needs of their Multilingual Learners (MLs). They will learn how to collaborate, co-plan, co-teach, and reflect on their teaching to help their MLS thrive. There will also be a face-to-face session held during Summer Academy on July 18th to debrief and review to be registered for separately.
The goal of the Adult, Child and Infant, Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid course is to help participants gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide First Aid and lay rescuer level CPR until more advanced help is available. The techniques will cover adult, child, and infant skills in 1 person CPR, conscious choking, unconscious choking, AED, and First Aid. The course will combine short video segments, skill practice and demonstration on manikins, teaching sessions, and a written test. Each successful participant’s ProFirstAid certification will be valid for a period of 2 years and meets the requirements for GCS First Responders and coaches. This course is not intended and does not meet the requirements for GCS school nurses.
Grade 6 Carnegie Learning - Experience task-based math lessons, an introduction to Math 6 print and digital curricula, and orientation to planning resources (long-term, short-term, and lesson level).
In day one of Reading Horizons training, participants will gain an understanding of the insructional content to be taught, specifically with a focus on the early chapters of Reading Horizons in addition to learning how to teach a Reading Horizons Lessons. In addition, participants will explore and learn tools to support instruction and differentiation, understand how to use connected text for transfer of skills, learn best practices for Most Common Words lessons, and review resources for ongoing professional learning.

The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum that teaches a variety of social-emotional skills to children, starting with early emotional skills and advancing on to self-regulation and navigating social situations. We will look at using the F&P word list as a starting point; practice and norm multiple benchmark levels; determine when a miscue is a MSV; discuss why we should record MSV for self-corrections; and examine the comprehension piece. What is March Mammal Madness? Rather than picking basketball teams, students learn about an exciting list of animals and then complete their own March Mammal Madness Bracket. Classroom research can align with your particular content standards, time limitations, and student abilities. After students complete their brackets, they score their brackets as new videos are released through March and April. Through the scientific information embedded in the bout descriptions, participants are educated about inter-species interactions, the importance of ecological context, how natural selection has shaped adaptations, and conservation management of endangered species..

In this session, participants will learn how to utilize the Staff Backpack - Truancy Program, and how to complete effective attendance Intervention plans. Participants will also learn more about attendance laws and GCS attendance policies / practices related to truancy. Participants will be taught how to run truancy reports and chronic absenteeism reports in Powerschool for students at their school.

**This is a series. Participants are required to attend both sessions.** The 1st part of this classroom management course will focus on structure of your classroom, expectation, schedules, and routines. We will dive in on creating a highly responsive classroom in order to increase appropriate behaviors. After creating structure, expectations, and routines, the second part of this series is setting up reinforcement schedules based on all needs of students. We will also provide specific tools and strategies for corrective response systems to decrease unwanted behavior.
**This series is held at MT Anderson Lecture Hall all three days. ** Teachers and administrators will be trained on how to serve as an evaluator on formal PAS-T evaluation teams. ADEPT/PAS-T Training is three days and participants must attend all three days. Teachers attending this training must have at least three years of teaching experience, reached a continuing contract status, and will need a recommendation from their principal.

News of the death of a student's close family member can feel overwhelming. Death is a hard topic to face in any situation, when loss touches a child's life, it can lead to feelings of helplessness and anxiety in those responsible for the child's educational wellbeing. This workshop will help you understand the particular needs of your grieving students and give you helpful ways to interact with them, support them, promote their learning in a difficult time, and make your classroom an inclusive place for every person who has experienced major loss.
This session will outline the opportunities for growth and advancement through formal and informal leadership programming in GCS. Participants will explore their readiness to lead beyond the classroom and the in-place activities that will prepare them for an administrative role.
This workshop teaches about community groups that support families and children affected by disabilities, what the groups offer, and how to refer to or navigate these groups. Staff will learn how to use these resources to connect families with the appropriate community group. These resources will allow staff to include community members in family support, empower parents to pursue additional support for themselves and their children, and promote social and emotional well being beyond just the school setting.

What is March Mammal Madness? Rather than picking basketball teams, students learn about an exciting list of animals and then complete their own March Mammal Madness Bracket. Classroom research can align with your particular content standards, time limitations, and student abilities. After students complete their brackets, they score their brackets as new videos are released through March and April. Through the scientific information embedded in the bout descriptions, participants are educated about inter-species interactions, the importance of ecological context, how natural selection has shaped adaptations, and conservation management of endangered species.

But how do we build those positive relationships when we are stretched thin with job demands and high teacher-student ratios? In this highly interactive workshop, we will learn and practice basic listening/response techniques (derived from the counseling discipline) in a nonjudgmental setting; these techniques can become a foundation for more positive and meaningful relationships with students.
This workshop teaches about community groups that support families and children affected by disabilities, what the groups offer, and how to refer to or navigate these groups. Staff will learn how to use these resources to connect families with the appropriate community group. These resources will allow staff to include community members in family support, empower parents to pursue additional support for themselves and their children, and promote social and emotional well being beyond just the school setting.

The goal of the Adult, Child and Infant, Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid course is to help participants gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide First Aid and lay rescuer level CPR until more advanced help is available. The techniques will cover adult, child, and infant skills in 1 person CPR, conscious choking, unconscious choking, AED, and First Aid. The course will combine short video segments, skill practice and demonstration on manikins, teaching sessions, and a written test. Each successful participant’s ProFirstAid certification will be valid for a period of 2 years and meets the requirements for GCS First Responders and coaches. Re-vamp traditional projects through 3-D design. In this workshop, we will introduce TinkerCAD, an online 3-D digital design software. After taking some time to familiarize ourselves with the capabilities of the software, we will work together to set up our teacher pages, then create a class and a project for that class. Teachers will leave with several ideas for 3-D design projects and receive a brief introduction to taking 3-D design to the next step with 3-D printing. Please bring your laptops with you.

The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum that teaches a variety of social-emotional skills to children, starting with early emotional skills and advancing on to self-regulation and navigating social situations. This training will give access to curriculum and a google drive folder of resources for all participants.
Participants will complete a pre-course inventory. Operational definitions will be reviewed with specific focus on the Blueprint Elementary Multi-cat Model. Students will review key concepts to establish a strong classroom foundation including classroom organization, effective scheduling, managing staff supports, and IEP notebook development. Students will develop a classroom organization plan, draft schedule including student grouping, teacher planning, team planning, and staff breaks, staff roles and procedures contract, communication plan for classroom team and grade level teams, and IEP notebooks for each student in their class. Simple data collection systems will be provided for use for the first few weeks of school.

The goal of the Adult, Child and Infant, Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid course is to help participants gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide First Aid and lay rescuer level CPR until more advanced help is available. The techniques will cover adult, child, and infant skills in 1 person CPR, conscious choking, unconscious choking, AED, and First Aid. The course will combine short video segments, skill practice and demonstration on manikins, teaching sessions, and a written test. Each successful participant’s ProFirstAid certification will be valid for a period of 2 years and meets the requirements for GCS First Responders and coaches. This course is not intended and does not meet the requirements for GCS school nurses.
